The best selling mattress in 2022 is the Saatva mattress.
The Saatva firm, which also makes mattresses like the Zenhaven and Loom & Leaf, is where the Saatva mattress is made.
Saatva innerspring mattresses come in two heights:
You can also choose from three firmness options:
- Plush Soft
- Luxury Firm
Although there are several Saatva models, this review focuses on the Saatva Classic.
Saatva Classic Mattress Overview
Saatva, a direct-to-consumer luxury mattress company founded in 2010, operates under the brands Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven.
The company provides a number of mattress models under these three names, including the all-foam Loom & Leaf, the latex Zenhaven, the airbed Solaire, and the hybrid Saatva.
The Saatva Mattress, also known as the Saatva Classic, consists of a thin layer of memory foam on top of two layers of polyfoam and coils.
The Saatva is available in three hardness levels: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm.
These choices are soft (3 on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the firmest), medium stiff (6), and firm (8), respectively.
Additionally, there are two height options for the Saatva: 11.5 inches and 14.5 inches.
The 14.5-inch choice is high-profile, thus it could require deeper sheets, but the 11.5-inch option is within the range of ordinary thickness.
This article will go into great detail about the Saatva Mattress.
We’ll talk about the product’s design, functionality, size, cost, consumer feedback, and company policies.
We’ll also discuss the performance differences between the various mattress models and the potential target audiences for each.
Are Saatva Mattresses Any Good?
Let’s start by answering the most fundamental question: Is this mattress right for me?
This mattress may or not be suitable for you depending on your weight, height, preference, and sleeping position.
Although I cannot tell you whether this mattress is right for you, I will give you some suggestions that may help you make an informed decision.
The Saatva is available in three firmness options: Plush Soft, Firm or Luxury Firm.
Who is the Saatva mattress best for?
- Combination sleepers, and those who alternate sleeping positions throughout the night
- People who want a high-quality, affordable mattress.
- People who like to “on top” their mattresses
- Mattresses that offer back pain relief are ideal for those who sleep on them.
Construction: What’s Inside Saatva
All Classic Saatvas are available in two sizes: 11.5 and 14.5 inches.
They are covered with natural cotton, which is hypoallergenic and breathable.
To create the Euro-style pillowtop, it is sewn to a 3-inch layer foam. Guardin is applied to the fabric, giving it anti-microbial properties.
A unique memory foam lumbar area was created below the pillow top.
This area has a distinct feel and was created to ease tension.
The first layer of coils lies under the memory foam layer.
The coils conform to your body and reduce motion transfer.
Both the coil layer and the one below it are made of recycled steel.
The coils are connected to the lower layer and prevent sagging.
The coil-on-coil design allows for air circulation and provides the bed with a lot of bounce.
There are two types of coil heights available depending on your bed height.
To provide enhanced edge support and to make the most of every inch of the surface, the edges are covered in thick foam.
These two heights only impact the thickness of the bottom coil unit.
They do not affect the number of layers or contents.
HD models swap out the first layer of coils in favor of contouring memory foam and 5-zoned Talalay foam.
How Does it Feel?
The firmness and feel of a mattress are crucial, so let’s see how the Saatva mattress performs for sleepers of different sizes and weights.
Body Weight and Sleep Position
Your preference for how you sleep and your weight will impact the Saatva’s selection of mattresses.
Although everyone has their own preferences about what is comfortable, those who sleep in the same positions and have similar body weights will share some common sleep needs.
What they need: Side sleepers require support and cushioning to get a restful night. Side sleepers need to be able to sink their shoulders and hips into the bed to relieve pressure points, and to align their spine throughout the night. The spine can become out of alignment if there is too much cushioning, too much pressure or too little support. This could lead to discomfort in the future.
How the Saatva Fits: The Plush Soft version is the best for side sleepers less than 130 pounds. For side sleepers who are lighter, the Luxury Firm version is a good choice.
The Luxury Firm version is best for those who weigh between 130-230 pounds. The Luxury Firm version shares the Plush Soft’s soft polyfoam for pressure relief, but has a firmer feel. Side sleepers of this weight can use the Plush Soft or Firm options. The Luxury Firm option may not be soft enough.
Side sleepers who are heavier than 230 lbs will be better off choosing the Firm version. The Luxury Firm option is a good choice for side sleepers who are heavier than 230 pounds, especially if the regular Firm feels too rigid.
What they need: Back sleepers require both support and cushioning, especially around the lower back. To strengthen the lumbar region, this balance favors the firmer and stronger end of the spectrum. Even though people who sleep on their backs need cushioning, too much can cause a sagging lower back.
How the Saatva Fits Back Sleepers: The Saatva Plush Soft and Luxury Firm Saatva models are suitable for back sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds. Both models have sturdy support systems that are balanced with soft cushioning foams.
Back sleepers who weigh between 130-230 pounds will find the Luxury Firm Saatva to offer the most support, firmness and contouring. If you prefer firmer or softer beds, the Plush Soft and Regular Firm options are close rivals.
The Firm version of Saatva is best for back sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds. For heavier sleepers who want a soft mattress, the Luxury Firm is a great option.
What they need: Stomach sleepers require a firmer mattress that provides more support to prevent them from sinking too deep into the mattress. People who sleep on their stomachs, especially around their midsections, tend to place more pressure on a mattress. A mattress that isn’t supportive enough can cause them to sink through the comfort layers, causing their spines to be out of alignment.
How the Saatva Fits: Depending on the firmness preference, stomach sleepers less than 130 lbs will be able to comfortably sleep on the Plush Soft or Luxury Firm versions. While the Firm Saatva offers the same support as the other options, the comfort layer of the Firm Saatva is firmer than the others.
Both the Luxury Firm or Firm versions of Saatva are recommended for stomach sleepers weighing between 130-230 pounds. Both offer the firmer support stomach sleepers prefer to get a good night of sleep.
The Firm version of the Saatva is best for those who sleep on their stomachs or weigh more than 230 pounds. Although the support system is the same for the Plush Soft and Luxury Firm options, it may feel too soft to prevent sinking.
Your mattress should be strong enough to last for a long time. We are very impressed by the quality of this mattress.
High-quality materials are used by the company. Dual layers of coils will extend the life expectancy of the mattress.
The Saatva bed is strong and durable. It can be used by all body types.
Each firmness level has 13-gauge hourglass coils. This allows for substantial airflow and is still very durable.
Saatva’s bed has many comfort levels.
However, they prefer support to contouring.
The Plush Soft model, however, provides decent pressure relief, especially for side sleepers.
The best hybrid mattresses are responsive, according to the baseline.
The Saatva’s two layers of coils make it stand out from the rest.
The coil layers allow the foam to conform to your body but also make it spring back quickly.
You won’t sink into the mattress like with traditional memory foam mattresses.
You still get comfort.
The Saatva mattress offers great edge support.
What exactly is edge support?
It’s simply how supportive the perimeter is of the bed.
This is useful if you share a bed with someone else and want to have access to the entire sleeping surface.
Saatva beds have a firm foam layer around the perimeter.
This ensures that sleepers don’t feel like they are going to roll off.
Because the edges aren’t compressed, the Saatva bed will provide a large sleeping surface.
Although the edge support is strong, the bed’s motion isolation is not exceptional.
The bed has dual coil layers, so this shouldn’t surprise.
We don’t believe it will be a problem overall.
The Saatva mattress will still be better than any old, worn-out bed in this area. We haven’t received any complaints regarding this topic from customers.
Saatva is a responsive, non-slip mattress that won’t let you sink too deep.
The Saatva mattress is flexible and allows for partners to move about and reposition themselves on it.
For those who want the luxury and comfort of an innerspring mattress but without the high price tag.
The Saatva allows you to choose between three options:
- Luxury Firm
- Plush Soft
It offers tailored support for both heavier and average sleepers.
